Hammerglass has undergone a long series of tests to ensure that the strength and performance of the material meet all burglar, ballistic and explosion protection requirements. Hammerglass AB is certified according to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, as well as PPAP for the automotive industry.
Hammerglass is certified in accordance with European Standard EN 356 as being of Security Class P8B, which corresponds to the highest protection class for security grilles and roller shutters. In order to qualify for this protection class it is required that the material withstand 70 axe strokes. It is worth noting that, when the test was terminated after 72 axe strokes, the axe had still failed to make a hole in the Hammerglass panel.
Ballistic-resistant glass is certified in accordance with European Standard EN 1063. The various levels of protection are indicated by classes BR1 to BR7, where BR1 is the lowest protection class and BR7 the highest. The most common protection classes are BR4 and BR6. Hammerglass Ballistic Protection is tested by Beschussamt Ulm in Germany and certified as compliant with protection classes BR4-NS and BR6-NS (No Splinter).
A series of tests on Hammerglass panels was conducted in accordance with EN 13124-2 at SP (the Technical Research Institute of Sweden) in Borås. Hammerglass panels in a variety of formats were mounted in differing types of steel frame. Seven explosions were then carried out, from a distance of 3 metres and 5 metres respectively. As a result, it was found that 12 mm Hammerglass panels withstand the pressure wave caused by 3 kg TNT being detonated from a distance of 3 metres.
